Creative content and audio visual production service for Promoting Trauma Sensitive Education Services
Migrants, irregular migrants, asylum seekers, and victims of human trafficking in Thailand remain contained in shelters and detention centers where they are often denied basic and social services.
Since 2015 Save the Children Thailand has been supporting education in the shelters in the south of Thailand. It remains vital that children are provided with trauma sensitive education services, both for the psychosocial benefits and security that they bring, and for their fundamental role in child development and offering a pathway to a brighter future.
In SC Thailand’s on-going work with shelters, we recognize the importance of building the capacity of shelter staff and strengthening relevant institutions in Thailand to have clear procedures and strategies for helping children following experiences of trauma and loss. The International Network for Education in Emergencies (INEE) recognizes that many children are deeply affected by trauma and loss and there are educational consequences to experiences of trauma. Lack of perceived support from parents, classmates and teachers have shown an association with more post-traumatic stress and lower school performance. In Suratthani, the field team learned that we must address the trauma and loss faced by Rohingya children and mothers, by providing trauma sensitive education services. This is part of creating an enabling, safe learning environment. We hope to share this important learning and approach across the network of government shelters responsible for trauma affected children in Thailand.
In partnership with the SCI Thailand team, the consultant shall provide high quality creative content and video production services with the content promoting trauma sensitive education services – particularly for child victims of human trafficking. The content of the produced video should be in line with and suitable for awareness-raising purpose with Thai government partners. Appropriate story-telling techniques’ may be applied. Ideally we are hoping to produce a cartoon animation with Thai voice over.
